Pair of Spitfire piston bookends

Code: 10123

W: 17.5cm (6.9")H: 14cm (5.5")D: 10cm (3.9")

An extremely unusual pair of bookends, fashioned from the piston from a Merlin engine, most commonly used in a WWII Spitfire fighter plane. Mounted on oak, with an oak centre, the bookends are very attractive and date from the late 1940's/early 1950's.
